Time for a male companion for the Doctor

Up-to-date Whovians already know the (big) news: Clara is going to stay as the Doctor's companion in series 9 of Peter Capaldi's second round as the legendary Time Lord. And this is the reason why I'm writing this entry because for a longer time now I thought about Clara and future companions of the Doctor, and I believe that it is about time that some things should maybe change a bit.

I know that a lot of people are going to say that I'm not open-minded and that I judge too fast too overhastily because I'm one of the people who don't like Clara. I admit that Clara does not stand on my top 3 of Doctor Who companions, but that is not entirely my point. For non-Clara fans the news that she is going to stay is of course kind of devastating, and I understand you very well guys. But I also understand the Whovians who like Clara very much and consider her as one of the best companions. Every Whovian has his/her own favourite companion, we can't always like everyone, and that's normal. I also don't want to concentrate now necessarily on pros and cons for Clara as a companion; there have been far too many discussions about that, and we all know how quickly they can go down an ugly road.

That Clara is going to stay the Doctor's companion for little longer I can't change, and I also won't stop watching Doctor Who just because a companion I don't like stays. To be honest at that point: any Whovian who stops watching because a character stays or the Doctor becomes someone else is to me not a real Whovians and simply being ridiculous, but that is another discussion... No, I'm writing this entry because something else is going around my mind because I think that it is time that the Doctor in the near future (possibly after Clara) gets a complete new type of companion.

The point I'm trying to make is: it is time for a male full time companion in Doctor Who.

We have had Jack and Rory, and (in my mind) they turned out to be pretty cool, but they have either only travelled with the Doctor occasionally or never alone with him. I personally would like to see another man aboard the TARDIS and this time alone, for real and as a full-time companion. Peter Capaldi's Doctor, I think, would be perfect to finally make that step. With him we've got again a more serious Doctor who is not flirty and not into hugging and is not always trying to impress the girl next to him (although he somehow always tries to impress somebody, no matter who it is, so...). I think that Capaldi's Doctor would make the perfect basis for a good, honest and mature friendship between two men who are simply best mates. It would definitely bring a fresh tone to the show and Capaldi's Doctor does seem to me to be very appropriate and a good version of the Time Lord to form a great bromance. He simply does seem and look to me like the right Doctor for this kind of companion because I imagine he would maybe be a bit more comfortable with (finally) only a guy aboard, and I also think that a male companion suits Capaldi's Doctor best of all the new-Who Doctors.

Well, I know that not all Whovians will welcome my opinion, but then it is only human to disagree. We will see what Moffat plans for the future of Capaldi's Doctor, and we can all just hope, with whomever the Doctor will end up with, that he is happy with his choice of companion and that he doesn't feel alone.

Happy Birthday Andrew Scott!!!

Today one of our most beloved actors celebrates his 38th birthday. Say happy Birthday to our Consulting Criminal: Happy Birthday Andrew Scott!!!
Andrew has been one of my favourite actors since I have seen him as brilliant Jim Moriarty. After this I have caught up with a lot of his work and his interviews and have to say that Andrew truly is one of the most fantastic people I have ever seen! He really is one of the best actors I have seen on screen and also as a person he seems to be an awesome guy. After seeing some of his interviews and works he has become one of the actors that animated the wish in me to become an actress myself one day. I hope that one day I might have the opportunity to meat the great Andrew Scott himself. As long as this moment is still away: Andrew, just stay the awesome guy you are, you are loved by all the Scotties out there ^_^

Doctor or Doctor Who? - A clarification about the name of the mad man in a blue box

It has always bothered me a bit, but lately it has come very often to my attention, and I now have the desire to speak out my opinion about this...

People in the Doctor Who fandom always go on about the name of the Doctor. No, I don't mean his actual name, which we will probably never hear, but the name of the character himself on the show. With the following picture/statement probably every Whovian is familiar:

I HAVE ENOUGH OF IT!!!! For god's sake people, don't always get angry when people call the character "Doctor Who" and not "the Doctor". To finally make this thing clear: THE DOCTOR'S ORIGINAL NAME WAS "DOCTOR WHO" - Even Christopher Eccleston's version of the Doctor was still called "Doctor Who" in the credits!!!
(Sorry for the bad quality)

Basically, calling this man "Doctor Who" isn't wrong at all, it is more of a tradition thing you could say. I just find it very unfair and simply childish to go on about such a little thing which isn't even a real mistake. So I am addressing every Whovian out there: if someone calls this man "Doctor Who" don't get angry because it is not a mistake but homage to the old days.

New Cosplay page

You may know that I love Cosplay and have done some Sherlock Cosplays. Now I would like to do more than just the characters from BBC Sherlock and have started a new page on Facebook. I hope that it will go well and that I can create some cool outfits. Feel free to like my page (or not, whatever you prefer) and take a look at how my Cosplay journey goes on ^_^

Starting school again (twice), a Doctor's appointment and putting my trust into a genie

Ah, well it has been quite a while since I did some proper blogging. What has happened, what is new, what people did I meet, what kind of new TV shows and movies I have recently fallen in love with, 'new' fandoms new people and things to swoon over... Well, I believe you get the idea ^_^

I have been back to school now for a week and to be honest: I'm already now tired of the whole school thing again! I've had six weeks of summer holidays and it doesn't feel like I have been away. Already now I get a headache in class, have problems understanding stuff and fall asleep in the middle of the lesson (no kidding, I really do that!). And it is also my final year at school, my 12th year and then I'm graduating (hopefully) so I get my degree for university. I'm so freaking nervous about my final exams and have no idea if I can cope with the stress, the pressure and the nervousness. The thing with me is that I don't want to finish school because I can't imagine a life after school, going to work, live alone etc. Yeah, university might still be a bit like school but even there everything is a bit different, more complicated and self-organised. And every teacher reminding you of now concentrating on your final exams and your plans for what to do after school doesn't make it much better for us students...
Well, but there has been another 'school' that started again and I was glad to see coming back: the TV show "Big School" is back on screen for a second series about which I am very glad! For the ones who don't know the show: it's about the life of (mainly) the teachers at a small school with bored and not the smartest children. Mostly you follow the life of French teacher Sarah Poston who is played by Catherine Tate (yes, it's Donna ^_^). She tries to make French interesting for the students and has to deal with the odd behaving of her colleagues, especially the flirting attempts of overenthusiastic and (too) nice Chemistry teacher Mister Church and the gruff and (slightly) perverse Physical Education teacher Mister Gunn. The show is definitely worth a watch because it is so lovely made and very funny. Every teacher is well played with his/her own special personality which may some of us remind us of our own teachers. The show isn't very long either (six episodes a 30 minutes in the first series) so you get through with it quickly and get some funny and loveable entertainment for an afternoon.

Of course I got my teeth also into some TV shows in the last time and I believe I have found a/two new fandom(s). I bet some of you know the TV show "Life on Mars" and its sequel "Ashes to Ashes". "Life on Mars" concentrates on the story of policeman Sam Tyler played by John Simm with whom you should be familiar as he played the Master in Doctor Who. This time however he plays the decent cop Sam who is involved in a car accident and when he wakes up he finds himself back in the year 1973. There he is the new DI in the department of DCI Gene Hunt, a tough, smoking, drinking and violent cop like you would imagine the head of a police department in the 70s. Sam meets all sorts of people and has to find his meaning in this new life and needs to work out if he ever can come back into his old life in the year 2006. The sequel that follows Sam's adventures, "Ashes to Ashes" is mainly with the same cast as in "Life on Mars", only that we this time follow the adventures of profiler Alex Drake who gets shot in the year 2008 and after waking up finds herself in the year 1981. She also works under Gene as new DI and tries to find out what has happened to herself.
I can only recommend and tell you to watch these two TV shows because they are a jewel of British television. These aren't just some ordinary crime shows as we are used to see on telly, no! Every case these people work on is different, in 40 episodes you will never get the feeling "Haven't they done something like that before?". The fact that the two shows are set in the 70s and 80s also gives them a special taste. The people who worked on these shows did all they could to make it look as authentic as possible and they really have succeeded with that! Fashion, music, looks, political views, society matters are getting a different kind of view that also let the audience think about the difference between now and then. The best thing, however, is probably the perfect character-writing and performances of all the different police characters. Every character in the police department is different and an individual and has her/his own way of thinking, talking and reacting to situations. And every single actor and actress in these two shows play their parts brilliantly and with so much passion and conviction that you will find yourself fallen in love with them from the very first moment.
Especially (that's now my personal opinion) the though DCI Gene Hunt is the one you will find yourself adoring after a few minutes the most although he's not always the nicest and fairest person in the room. Gene is a hilarious guy who's never afraid of saying what he thinks and punching the criminal scum, he takes off the road, if they are being stupid or don't want to talk. Gene Hunt is played by the awesome actor Philip Glenister who not only has the perfect looks for a guy like Gene but also portrays this cop with so much passion that you will never forget that Philip Glenister is/was the Gene Genie ^_^ I've also seen Glenister in other movies and shows and can also recommend to you everything he has ever done because I personally think that Philip Glenister is one of Britain's finest actors who makes every role you see him in likeable for you. So I found a new fandom and a new brilliant British actor I can be obsessed with. Hurray!

The other big thing that has been going on are the further adventures of the new Doctor number 12! I can't say that much about it because there is actually just one thing I would like to make clear: I bloody love the 12th Doctor!!! He is funny and serious and is somehow a mixture of Doctor number 9 (and some of the classic Doctors) who was a bit more serious but still sassy and the childish Doctor number 11. In all three episodes I think the new Doctor has been brilliant, he gets better with every new adventure and I personally have to say that 12 already now probably belongs to my favourite Doctors ^_^

Okay, that is my blogging done. Just some little advice at the end: go and watch the movie "Fright Night", it's awesome! That is how a good and decent vampire-horror movie should be! The original from 1985 is really good and the remake from 2011 is bloody awesome and has David Tennant and Colin Farrell in it. That's my little advice for your next movie night so go and have a look and don't forget "Life on Mars" and "Ashes to Ashes". They are all worth a watch, believe me. Trust the Gene Genie ^_^

P.S.: Today is Martin Freeman's birthday by the way! Our cute Hobbit and loyal army-doctor turns 43 today. Happy Birthday, Martin ^_^

New Sherlock Cosplay photos!!!

It has been a while since I have done some Cosplay pictures and today I finally had the chance to do some of those: my parents and my brother were out so I was on my own and got the camera. My family doesn't really know that I cosplay because I don't feel like they should know it. I don't know why... But anyway! Took some new photos today, also finally some of them in my Richard Brook outfit. So, feel free to take a look at my new photos (these are jus the best, there are way more ^_^):

Twelve has finally arrived! (Spoiler-free)

Okay, I bet yesterday evening thousands of people sat in front of their TV's and computers to watch the start of Doctor Who's series 8 with the episode "Deep Breath". We all were very excited about how Peter Capaldi would be as the new Doctor after Matt Smith had left with an emotional finale. Some people had the (to be honest ridiculous) fear that an older Doctor would not be as cool and awesome as David and Matt but one thing is for sure: Doctor number 12 is bloody awesome!!!

We find ourselves back in Victorian times were we again meet the clever Madame Vastra, her pretty wife Jenny and awesome butler Strax. And they have every reason to be excited because a dinosaur found its way into the middle of London. And of course we all know who's fault that is. Clara isn't quite sure how to deal with the new face of her Doctor and also the other three friends have their problems keeping the Doctor in place and understanding what exactly he's on about when he's talking. The Doctor has a new face, a new personality and new opinions and thoughts. But the Doctor wouldn't be the Doctor if he didn't find out in funny conversations and a mysterious adventure who he has become now. And of course even straight after a regeneration the Doctor can't resist a good mystery which surrounds the death of a dinosaur and strange moving people who don't seem to be breathing. Clara on the other hand doesn't seem to be sure if she can get along with the new face the Doctor has but knows that she has to stay with him because he's still the Doctor and both of them have to position themselves new in their companionship.

One thing can be said about the start of the new series: Peter Capaldi will certainly be a fantastic Doctor who saves the day in his own new way. The first episode might not yet completely show what potential and emotions are hiding in the new Doctor but the writing can be excused with the fact that the first episode of a new Doctor is always a bit neutral but still shows us the hero we love. Peter Capaldi presents the great acting he is capable of and already now has made that role his very own and the way he pulls off the script and the text in this first episode just proves that. People who are worried that an "old" man might not make a good Doctor should already now be convinced that when it comes to the Doctor the age isn't important because he is always the same fantastic Time Lord who is here to safe us and other worlds. And probably it is good that the Doctor is a bit going back to his origins: he's a time traveller and adventurer who helps us and his companion. "I'm not your boyfriend." the Doctor makes clear to Clara and that is fine! People say that they adore Peter Capaldi as the Doctor but probably won't be able to fall in love with him like with fancy David and funny Matt but the awesomeness of the new Doctor, Peter's brilliant acting  and the great potential this Doctor has will surely make us all adore Doctor number 12 just as every Doctor who has been there before. So with a new face, a "new" TARDIS and new adventures to look forward to we start our journey into darkness with Peter Capaldi!

Peter Capaldi comes and everyone forgets the other Doctors

I have just read an article about Peter Capaldi's new Doctor that comes very soon on August the 23rd. They are all making a big fuss about him what I can understand but what actually bothers me a bit is the fact that they treat Capaldi's Doctor as if there has never been someone like him in the whole time!I love Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor and I'm really looking forward to see him being again a more serious Doctor but I get the feeling that many people are forgetting Doctor Who's history.

They say that the Doctor has finally grown up, he's now all serious and not flirty and he's a darker person and wears almost just black. They all describe it as if that's some big new thing in the Doctor Who history but it's really not! Apart from the fact that there has never been any big flirting in Classic Who and there most of the Doctors were a bit more serious, also in New Who we have such a Doctor: Christopher's alias Doctor number nine! He came from the Time War, wore a black leather jacket and jumpers and was very much like a grown up who could get very angry. And he also wasn't one of the flirty kind with whom every woman in the room immediately feel in love with. Nine was like an adult who could be serious and dark and emotional when it came to his past. But he had not lost entirely his humour, we all love the sassiness of Nine ^_^ He's like an adult who hadn't lost  his sense of humour.

They also see it as a new thing now that the new Doctor will speak with a Scottish accent. I do love a Scottish accent but it's also not new that the Doctor doesn't speak RP. Nine had the gorgeous accent of the North! And after realising that also David Tennant could have kept his wonderful Scottish accent I also think that this is not entirely fair.

I don't want to spoil Capaldi's arriving as the new Doctor, actually I'm quite excited and a fan of him, but they shouldn't forget the Doctors that have been there before David and Matt came with their brilliant hair and their cheeky smiles.

An old love found again: David Thewlis

The last few days I have, out of fun, re-watched all the Harry Potter movies and was so happy when I came to my favourite one "Prisoner of Askaban" because that's where my favourite character comes in: Remus John Lupin. I'm so in love with this character also because he is played so brilliantly by the amazing David Thewlis (actually David Wheeler). And since I'm not a normal girl and can be obsessed and fall in love with men who are 20 or 30 years older than me, it's only natural that I've started to catch up with everything about David Thewlis.

What I have to say is: go and watch David's other movies, he's so awesome!!!! He became famous with the film "Naked" from 1993 and also got many awards for playing the part of Johnny so brilliantly. And I can only agree to that. Johnny might have some serious problems (he rapes women) and is not always the nicest person in the room but he is a very clever young man who has something of a philosopher. And David plays this really well, he's able not just to give his sometimes really thoughtful text a face and a voice you want to listen to but also manages it to make this statements his own ones so they don't just sound like something that's re-told from a book. But David also plays the vulnerable side in a stunning way so you can be able to understand what exactly is the character's problem although it wasn't really put into words in any way. In this movie David Thewlis makes it possible that you go with his character Johnny and that you think about what he says although Johnny can be quite cruel.

Yesterday I've seen the movie "Dragonheart" from 1996 and apart from the fact that this movie is actually really good and so funny David also does a great job in this in playing the bad guy. And you can really see he's the bad one, not just from the awful haircut but also from David's ability to use his presence and his look to make you see at first sight that he really is this spoiled grown-up teenager who's only interested in himself. And the movie is also worth a watch because I bet you've never seen David Thewlis having a sword fight!

The wonderful thing about David's acting is that even when he plays a guy who's actually bad you still get interested in him and sort of grow attached to him. For example in the movie "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" he plays a father in the 1940's in Germany who is a Nazi. Because of David's acting and the good original writing from the book you always see more the father than the terrible Nazi soldier. And no matter whom he plays or for how long he's actually in the movie itself, David Thewlis always plays every role with a lot of character and emotion that you will have the feeling that he's really at that moment that specific person.

His latest movie you can see him in will also delight a lot of you because he has also a part in "The Fifth Estate" in which Benedict Cumberbatch plays the main role. Though it not an easy issue the movie deals with and you really have to pay attention to what is happening, you will get a fascinating movie with a perfect cast including David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Capaldi and also two of Germany's best actors, Daniel Brühl and Moritz Bleibtreu. (Since I'm from Germany you can believe me when I say that ^_^). And that movie shows again that David Thewlis can pull over every kind of character and no matter how big the part is, you can always be sure that David Thewlis does some really amazing acting!

Browsing for TV show and film clothes or with other words: I cosplay

Well, as already everybody knows I'm of course also a weird fangirl and this includes (when it comes to me personally) also the wonderful world of Cosplay. I've started with this about a year ago with my first Fem-lock photos I just did out of fun because I was still a bit nervous. Over the time I became more and more confident and now I even have a Cosplay page on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/johannaholmescosplay?ref_type=bookmark

I love doing this though I always have huge respect when I see those people who really do this professionally, do everything themselves and go to competitions etc. The first time I've done something like this was in March to the Book Con in Leipzig and I just put on my Sherlock outfit without really believing someone would recognise me. But it was unbelievable! Though it were just three or four people it was so awesome that people recognised my outfit and called me Sherlock! You have to imagine for the first time doing this in public this was fantastic! Actually I already have everything I need for the complete outfit except the right coat. Recently I'm using my normal coat I wear in winter which of course works but does not look like the real thing. I've discovered on our German Amazon website Sherlock's coat the only problem: damned expensive! But I had the idea that I could maybe ask my parents to get me this as a present for my 18th birthday in February ;-) But at least it looks awesome ^_^

And I also want to cosplay Doctor Who some day of course! I love all the New Who Doctors (I'm still in the first Series of Classic Who but I've seen the TV Movie ^_^) and they are all awesome to cosplay but of course I want to be my favourite Doctor who is Christopher's alias the ninth Doctor. I've found for this also a great page which helps with tips and ideas for every Doctor outfit so you know what you need: http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2013/07/quick-cosplay-guide-to-the-doctors-of-doctor-who/
The ninth Doctor's outfit is actually easily done I just have to get the right leather jacket and there comes the problem again: money. (Btw: Did you notice that the jacket or the coat is most of the time the most expensive part of the Doctor's outfit? The BBC loves its jackets and coats ^_^) My parents also don't actually know that I cosplay and they don't really know about Doctor Who so I would feel a bit weird when I go to them and ask "Would you buy me a man's leather jacket that costs about 155 Euros so I can look like a time-travelling alien from TV?" Yeah, probably not the best sentence to start with this topic. But at least I've found the right jacket after one hour searching around and it looks like the Doctor's don't you think?

Has anyone of you seen "Nan's Christmas Carol" from the Catherine Tate show in which David Tennant plays the ghost of Christmas present? (If not do it after you've read this: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xyjboe_catherine-tate-nan-s-christmas-carol-full-episode_fun) Apart from the fact that the whole thing is freaking brilliant I absolutely adore the look of David Tennant's character!

I'm so in love with this outfit especially with the jacket! The same day that I have seen this I immediately looked around everywhere to find this black-red Army-style jacket and I can tell you that it's really not easy! It's even more difficult for me because I have to find some German page where I can buy it and pay in Euros. But I'm not giving up and I have already found some jackets that do look a bit like the one of the ghost but the problem is that they may look similar but miss certain important details. If someone finds a jacket like this on the internet and informs me I'm gonna love this person!

Well, who said that Cosplay is always easy? Well, actually it is always you just don't have to take it too seriously and remember that it is about being your hero and giving him and homage ^_^

Happy Birthday Benedict Cumberbatch!!!

Today is the day! The 38th birthday of the man himself: Happy Birthday Benedict Cumberbatch!!!!!
I hope he has a wonderful day and can have some rest with his friends and his family today. He has done so many things in the last few years, entertained us and made us laugh. He is such a wonderful guy and gives us so many wonderful chances to say a brilliant man doing some brilliant acting! 19th of July is coming closer...!

Well, we all know that Benedict Cumberbatch's birthday is on Saturday and of course I want to do something for this incredible man on his special day.

Because I love to cosplay I thought of the idea to do a (Fem) Sherlock Cosplay video in which it's the detective's birthday! I've finished the script just a few minutes ago and of course want to share the result with you. You can find the script on my fan fiction blog:   http://johannaholmes.blogspot.de/2014/07/birthday-preparations.html

And if you want to know what the characters are going to look like when I cosplay: take a look at my Cosplay page https://www.facebook.com/johannaholmescosplay?ref_type=bookmark

So looking forward to do this and with a bit of luck Benedict might see the video on YouTube too...

Doctor Who has to be real!

I just stumbled across a very interesting little article that, once again, shows me that the world of Doctor Who might not be as far away as we think. The article explains that basically the Sonic Screwdriver, the Angels and the Doctor himself are/can be real.

Some days ago I saw a picture of Mt. Rushmore where one of the heads looks light the eight Doctor. Seriously though, I mean: who tells us that the Doctor's adventures, he himself and his planet aren't real?

I really like to believe that the Doctor and the species of the Time Lords is real since we don't know what else is out there. There are still so many things to discover and maybe we had the idea to create the world of Doctor Who because something in us told us about those adventures because deep inside we feel like the Doctor's stories are true. Every time at night when I like out of the window and I see a blinking light in the sky flying around I smile because I often think that this could be the Doctor in his TARDIS. Call me crazy or strange who doesn't want time travelling and a funny, clever alien to be real?

All this sounds weird, I know and you also need probably a lot of fantasy and faith to believe in this kind of stuff. But somehow it gives me hope and again brings some magic in our lives. Just imagine that it is not completely impossible that one day you walk around and suddenly you hear the sound of engines and the TARDIS materialising in a side street. And then I think the Doctor will be happy to see that we know him, know what he has always done and that we love him and are always ready to go with him.

In Memory of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

It have been now 84 years since the genius Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has died. Two years ago I saw a picture which explained the idea of writing 221B on your wrist on today's date. I liked it and since then I've done it and today we remember Doyle again. I know, in the very end Doyle himself didn't like his creation and stories about Sherlock Holmes but still: people all over the world were inspired by this character and not just by him. Doyle also wrote other interesting things like the adventures of Professor Challenger or beautiful poems. I'm glad that even today I can still read his brilliant stories and get inspired by them. Thank you Arthur for being such a brilliant author! You will always be remembered!

Matt Smith being a homosexual and a clone

We all have our first times seeing our most beloved actors. And often we start to associate them with the first film or TV show we see them in. Benedict, Martin and Andrew with "Sherlock" and Christopher, David and Matt with "Doctor Who". But some day we start to wonder what they are like in other projects so we look up their filmography. After doing this for all the aforementioned actors except Matt I've also finally found the curiosity to look up his works and I found two very interesting movies.

So, the first movie in which I saw Matt Smith for the first time is called "Christopher and his kind". It's based upon a autobiography of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. Basically it's about Christopher (played by Matt) who moves from his home in England to Berlin in the year 1931. There he meets his old friend who takes him to a special places that relatively early makes clear that Christopher is a young, book-writing homosexual. The film now shows Christopher's life in Berlin where me meets other British people and falls in love with other men. As it can't be prevented in such a story you also see men kissing and having sex but one has to say that they don't overdo it in the movie with showing love scenes. And who doesn't want to see Matt without his clothes? ^_^ Okay there was the fangirl speaking. - Christopher meets a man called Heinz with whom he really seems to be in love. He wants to be part of his life and always stands by his side. You can see that Christopher cares for him because at the time the Nazis and Hitler take over in Germany Christopher recognises they have to leave because their sexuality will not be accepted. So of they go in a future which is never quite clear.
The story itself is a very interesting one especially if you think about the fact that the life of Christopher Isherwood has really happened. I find the topic itself very fascinating and since I'm also German it was interesting to see how the gay community was in the thirties. Another great part for me in this movie is the fact that you get Matt Smith speaking German what for me was obviously great fun to watch. Though I have to say, since I know it's difficult to speak German if you're a native English speaker, his German was quite well to understand. There were only a few sentences which were funny to listen to but he did a good job with his German parts. But then you also have to say that the Germans English in the movie is also not always the best, especially when some of them try to pronounce Christopher's last name ^_^ One has to say that you will not get thrilling action or big discussions but I personally think the movie doesn't need that. I have to say that maybe some people who will watch the movie are just sitting through until the end because Matt Smith is in it but if you're open for an interesting and well-staged biography you will get a good story. The characters are written brilliantly and you find yourself clinging on to them and thinking about their situations in such a difficult time. And every actor and actress did a great job even if they just had a small part. Matt Smith, as nearly always, gives a great portrait of his character in this movie. He doesn't play Christopher as a stereotype gay man, he plays him naturally, emotionally and also very seriously if needed. You get a very good portrait of Christopher Isherwood because Matt Smith gives him a honest and believable character and you don't get the feeling that Matt has any problems with the role of Christopher.

The second movie I saw today has the name "Womb" or "Clone" (it has been changed for special DVD stuff). It focuses on the story of Rebecca and Tommy. They have been best friends when they were young but then Rebecca had to go to Japan to live with her mother. The two don't see each other for twelve years. Rebecca comes back to their old home and finds Tommy who still likes her very much. Rebecca and Tommy restart their relationship and are again spending much time with each other. One day they are taking a trip to Wellness Centre because Tommy's activist group is panning something there. They stop for a second because Rebecca needs to pee. Tommy gets out of the car as well but gets hit by car and dies still lying on the street. Rebecca and Tommy's parents are having their saddest days ever but Rebecca doesn't want to accept Tommy's death. She explains his parents the possibility of bringing Tommy back if they take his DNA from his dead body and let her have a baby, a new Tommy. The mother objects but the father gives in and Rebecca gives birth to a second Tommy whom she raises as her son. And so a sometimes difficult life begins for Rebecca and Tommy. Especially after some years when Tommy is older and near the age "Tommy 1" died and has a girlfriend the relationship and understanding between him and Rebecca becomes more difficult with every day.
This movie follows a brilliant and fascinating idea because you see yourself also confronted with the rules of society. Rebecca, played by Eva Green, is played brilliantly and you feel yourself put into her character. The movie manages it to portray this difficult and rather unusual scenario in a very emotional and serious way that you really want to know how Rebecca is going to handle the relationship with Tommy. You will catch yourself hoping that even though Tommy is Rebecca's son that the two of them could just be together as Rebecca remembers it but at the same time you fell sorry for Tommy because for so many years he doesn't know who he really is and has a, maybe for him, unexplainable close relationship with his mother. Matt Smith plays Tommy in a astonishing honest and emotional way. This role shows again how brilliantly Matt can play a characters who is actually a happy man but then over time has his dark and very serious even furious times. Especially in the discussions and conversations with the character of Rebecca Matt manages it to make the audience put into his situation. While watching this movie you always feel very attached to the two main characters because both Eva Green and Matt Smith play them very, very well and emotionally.

Both movies are definitely worth a watch through my personal favourite of the two is "Womb". You get brilliant acting of Matt Smith in both stories though he plays two very different characters. And you will notice again that the personality of Matt himself never gets lost in the movies because there are always the little moments where you have this young man with a bright smile behaving sometimes somehow childish and full of happiness. Matt Smith is a great actor and I hope that after his brilliant acting in "Doctor Who" he will get more new roles so he can finally expand his talent more and give us many awesome portraits of interesting people.

Doctor Who Series 6: completed!

I have finally finished the sixth series of Doctor Who!!! When I started watching Doctor Who I just came as far as series 5 because that were the DVD's my friend had and which I borrowed from her. That was two years ago. And a few months ago I decided to re-watch all episodes and finally going further and so I have now reached series 6 and I'm about to start with series 7. Because I want to be up-to-date when Peter Capaldi comes on August the 23rd!

I have to say that this was a pretty interesting series though I also have to say that I liked series 5 a bit more. What I noticed is that all the problems the Doctor, Amy and Rory faced were very often concentrated on themselves. There were enemies who did something but most of the time one of the three became the problem (sort of). You had a Doppelganger Doctor, you also had old Amy from the future saving her younger self or Amy becoming a wooden doll. It were quite some interesting and thrilling adventures and I have to admit I have never cried that often while watching Doctor Who as in this series. Especially when it came out that Amy was not real and her baby was not as well. Loved that episodes!

What of course was also in the focus of the sixth series was the whole story about River Song alias Melody Pond. Already the fact that she is the daughter of Amy and Rory is a little bit weird but an interesting idea if you think about it more closely. Well, but I had to go through all the River parts of this series again to make clear that I've now really understood what happened to little Melody Pond. She was taken away from her parents, has Time Lord parts in her, so regenerates into River and was apparently trained to kill the Doctor. Unfortunately we did not see much from River's story, many parts we just get told. Okay the following now is a bit paradox compared with the stuff before: I personally have to admit that there was a bit too much River for me but then I also have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of her. (Jap, sorry guys!) I would like her more if we knew and saw more of her. She is always flirty with the Doctor like they have known for a very long time and she is always like "Yeah, he's my boyfriend, I can flirt with him, make funny comments..." etc. And I was not satisfied with the last episode as usually because she marries the Doctor. I just did not feel comfortable with that because she always just appears out of nowhere, is like the Doctor's weird/secret girlfriend and is allowed to flirt with him and everything without the fact that we know that much about her. And it was a bit disappointing for me that in the end she marries the Doctor to save the world. No, sorry, but I've seen better Doctor Who finales than this one.

The relationship between Amy and Rory also finally got more in the focus especially Rory's part in the relationship and in the adventures was shown better and much more of it. It was always very emotional when it came to problems or hard decisions in their relationship and it was well worked into the adventures around them. I never felt pushed into the relationship story of them. Their relationship went through really hard times, very often they did not even remember each other or they got separated or had tiny doubts but it got never boring to see how they find each other again and how strong their love is. I also loved it to see, after we had Amy in the fifth series, how Rory now was doing in the TARDIS. he is finally a part of the adventures and it was good to see more of him. You also got now more of the serious Rory, also the lovely husband and a caring father.

Apart from the (once again) interesting adventures we also got again some really great acting of Matt, Karen and Arthur. They all did a fantastic job not just in their leading roles. Sometimes there were also copies or Doppelganger of the characters and they played them excellently as well. And also the guest stars were doing an awesome job.

My result with this series is the following: it were again wonderful adventures around the Doctor and his companions to watch. As we are already used this it got sometimes a little bit complicated but if you pay attention you will be able to catch up with everything. Some little points like explanations or characters structures had sometimes tiny difficulties which can be overseen. It was a good series to watch, I would say that series 5 was maybe a little bit better but this series definitely shows us again what Doctor Who is about: a weird alien in a blue box who travels with his friends.

Weclome to my world!

Well, hello there people from all over the world, how are you doing?

As people always do let us have a little introduction first, it's what people do, don't they?

At the time of this first post I'm seventeen years old and currently living in a little town in eastern Germany. As you can probably deduce from the title of this blog, I'm a huge fan of two particular TV shows: Doctor Who and Sherlock. Yes, I know, this combination is not unusual and pretty well known but what can I do about it? I simply love the BBC for making these shows and I also hate the BBC because I can't watch it here on my telly. (Trying to be funny, we'll see how often I do that...)

So, I decided to start a blog about my weird fan life in a little town where I am the only one of my kind: an obsessed fan with crazy theories and thoughts who is in love with men and women who are twenty years older than myself. BUT, I know I'm not the only one in the world with such "problems" so I'm writing this blog to let you know what my Wholock (and every-day-life) stories are and what is really going on in the brain of an obsessed teenager. You can expect some crazy thoughts, funny stories, personal reviews, adoring handsome men and women, Cosplay and Fan Fiction stuff and so many other things I don't yet know about. It's probably all going to be a bit wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey...

I hope I can entertain you a bit and also hope of course that some of you will follow my future journeys through time, space, new cases, puberty and many other great places. (At least I hope so...)

The game is on, Allons-y!
