A busy life (But still time for Writing, Cosplay, Cumberbatch, Doctor Who, Hannibal and Game of Thrones)

Sorry guys, I haven't really done any proper blogging in the past three months. I'm in my last year of school and the final exams are coming up so I have a lot of studying to do. I guess many fangirls and fanboys among you will understand that problem of not being able to do your fandom stuff because of school.

There are actually no other big things on in my life at the moment. I still try to watch my TV shows and movies and to read my books but very often I never find the time for my hobbies. I actually want to continue writing my fantasy novel but somehow there is also no real process going on. But I have had some really good ideas about certain characters and their motivations and backgrounds so I hope that the spirits of inspiration will move my pen again very soon. If want to know/hear something about my novel don't hesitate to ask. I can also write an extra entry about my book if you like ^_^

For the Cosplay and Criminal Minds fans: I have done a new cosplay based on the wonderful character of Dr Spencer Reid from the team of the BAU. If you want to take a look click on the link and maybe give it a thumps up: https://www.facebook.com/johannaholmescosplay

Some big things happened in our fandoms though. Benedict finally got married and had a ten day honeymoon with his gorgeous wife Sophia Cumberbatch ^_^ They look so happy and cute together on the photos you see of the two and I hope that they are enjoying the married life and always find some time for themselves between their busy schedules. Sadly Benedict didn't win the Oscar for best actor but to be honest at that point: I already expected something like that because I have seen "Theory of Everything". And I'm so glad Eddie Redmayne won the Oscar for his portrait of Stephen Hawking because he absolutely deserved it!!! If you haven't watched "Theory of Everything" already, go an do it right after you have finished reading this blog entry ^_^

The fans of Doctor Who are looing forward to the new series and are excited to see what lies behind the story of the Doctor and the Mistress. I'm kind of excited myself because I was actually quite intrigued in the new version of the Master and hope that we will see some cool scenes between the Doctor and the Mistress. What will happen with Clara, I don't quite know what to say to that. I'm not her biggest fan but she's become better with Peter Capaldi and hope that I maybe grow more attached to her in this new series. If the writers of Doctor Who do a better job this time with scripts, the characters and take more advantage of the potential that still lies in Peter Capaldi's acting abilities (which are, as we all know, absolutely fantastic!), then I'm sure the new series will be a good one.

And the fans of "Hannibal" reading this are also probably looking forward to season 3 and have been just as excited as me when the trailer for the new season came out. I'm looking forward to see what they are going to show and where Hannibal is now going and if he's meeting old acquaintances and visits places of his past. Let us hope for interesting plot lines and some intriguing insights into the psyche of the characters.

But I have still found the time to start watching a new TV show which probably many of you will know and like: I started watching Game of Thrones! Right now I'm in the middle of series 4 and look forward to series 5 which is airing very soon. The show is pretty cool and very interesting. I also appreciate the work of George R.R. Martin because the world he created is simply brilliant and full of fantasy. I love the fact that you always have to expect the unexpected in Game of Thrones whether it hast to do with characters or plot lines. And there are MANY plot lines. After the very first episode there are already about fife different stories going on. I have to admit that I can understand people that don't like that sort of complicated stuff and have difficulty in following certain story lines. You have to have some patience with Game of Thrones but when you give it a chance you will most certainly get an entertaining and well-created TV show.
For the Game of Thrones fans among you, here are some of my opinions/favourites:
- Tyrion Lannister is probably the best character ever!
- Daenerys Targaryen and Jorah Mormont should be a couple
- Brienne of Tarth is such a cool woman!
- I somehow like/support the thing that's going on between Bealish and Sansa
- Arya Stark is my favourite from the House of Stark because she is just badass
- This was the first TV show where I really despised certain characters and cheered when they died (I think we all know who it is)
- I actually support the love of the incest couple in that show (And of course I also love the fact that there also gay and lesbian relationships)

Well, that's the blogging done. I don't know when I will have the time again to write something but I always like to say: better late than never. I hope you guys are all well and for the students out there: keep your heads up, we can do it ^_^

New Cosplay page

You may know that I love Cosplay and have done some Sherlock Cosplays. Now I would like to do more than just the characters from BBC Sherlock and have started a new page on Facebook. I hope that it will go well and that I can create some cool outfits. Feel free to like my page (or not, whatever you prefer) and take a look at how my Cosplay journey goes on ^_^

New Sherlock Cosplay photos!!!

It has been a while since I have done some Cosplay pictures and today I finally had the chance to do some of those: my parents and my brother were out so I was on my own and got the camera. My family doesn't really know that I cosplay because I don't feel like they should know it. I don't know why... But anyway! Took some new photos today, also finally some of them in my Richard Brook outfit. So, feel free to take a look at my new photos (these are jus the best, there are way more ^_^):

Browsing for TV show and film clothes or with other words: I cosplay

Well, as already everybody knows I'm of course also a weird fangirl and this includes (when it comes to me personally) also the wonderful world of Cosplay. I've started with this about a year ago with my first Fem-lock photos I just did out of fun because I was still a bit nervous. Over the time I became more and more confident and now I even have a Cosplay page on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/johannaholmescosplay?ref_type=bookmark

I love doing this though I always have huge respect when I see those people who really do this professionally, do everything themselves and go to competitions etc. The first time I've done something like this was in March to the Book Con in Leipzig and I just put on my Sherlock outfit without really believing someone would recognise me. But it was unbelievable! Though it were just three or four people it was so awesome that people recognised my outfit and called me Sherlock! You have to imagine for the first time doing this in public this was fantastic! Actually I already have everything I need for the complete outfit except the right coat. Recently I'm using my normal coat I wear in winter which of course works but does not look like the real thing. I've discovered on our German Amazon website Sherlock's coat the only problem: damned expensive! But I had the idea that I could maybe ask my parents to get me this as a present for my 18th birthday in February ;-) But at least it looks awesome ^_^

And I also want to cosplay Doctor Who some day of course! I love all the New Who Doctors (I'm still in the first Series of Classic Who but I've seen the TV Movie ^_^) and they are all awesome to cosplay but of course I want to be my favourite Doctor who is Christopher's alias the ninth Doctor. I've found for this also a great page which helps with tips and ideas for every Doctor outfit so you know what you need: http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2013/07/quick-cosplay-guide-to-the-doctors-of-doctor-who/
The ninth Doctor's outfit is actually easily done I just have to get the right leather jacket and there comes the problem again: money. (Btw: Did you notice that the jacket or the coat is most of the time the most expensive part of the Doctor's outfit? The BBC loves its jackets and coats ^_^) My parents also don't actually know that I cosplay and they don't really know about Doctor Who so I would feel a bit weird when I go to them and ask "Would you buy me a man's leather jacket that costs about 155 Euros so I can look like a time-travelling alien from TV?" Yeah, probably not the best sentence to start with this topic. But at least I've found the right jacket after one hour searching around and it looks like the Doctor's don't you think?

Has anyone of you seen "Nan's Christmas Carol" from the Catherine Tate show in which David Tennant plays the ghost of Christmas present? (If not do it after you've read this: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xyjboe_catherine-tate-nan-s-christmas-carol-full-episode_fun) Apart from the fact that the whole thing is freaking brilliant I absolutely adore the look of David Tennant's character!

I'm so in love with this outfit especially with the jacket! The same day that I have seen this I immediately looked around everywhere to find this black-red Army-style jacket and I can tell you that it's really not easy! It's even more difficult for me because I have to find some German page where I can buy it and pay in Euros. But I'm not giving up and I have already found some jackets that do look a bit like the one of the ghost but the problem is that they may look similar but miss certain important details. If someone finds a jacket like this on the internet and informs me I'm gonna love this person!

Well, who said that Cosplay is always easy? Well, actually it is always you just don't have to take it too seriously and remember that it is about being your hero and giving him and homage ^_^
